"The Fellowship of Reconciliation seeks to replace violence, war, racism and economic injustice with nonviolence, peace and justice. We are an interfaith organization committed to active nonviolence as a transforming way of life and as a means of radical change. We educate, train, build coalitions, and engage in nonviolent and compassionate actions locally, nationally, and globally."
John Lindsay-Poland works in the FOR's San Francisco office as coordinator for its Task Force on Latin America and the Caribbean. He co-coordinated an international delegation to Puerto Rico to study the effects of militarization on the island and her "Isla Nena", Vieques, in February of 1998. I was a member of that delegation representing the family, but particularly my mother, a supporter for over fifty years of Puerto Rican independence and author of a book on the subject, "Voices for Independence" (online in both English and Spanish @: www.hexadec.com/whitestar.) John readily admits that her persistence really instigated the whole thing. Our family has supported the FOR for many years in its dedication throughout the world to non-violence and reconciliation.
