Two letters to the editor were printed in the Examiner on Wednesday

Also, with everything going on in Peru right now, the SF Committee
to Free Lori Berenson is asking folks to call the White House
hotline every Friday to ask for her release. The situation with
Montesinos makes the US's inaction that much more intolerable.
Would it be possible to put out an appeal to the SOAW group?
I'll include details at the end of the message.
Thanks so much!

SOA GRAD FREE WHILE LORI BERENSON SITS IN JAIL
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
As you know, the US government and the Organization of American
States are endorsing the asylum bid in Panama of Vladimiro Montesinos,
Peru's recently ousted intelligence chief and graduate of the
SOA. Their logic? His exit from Peru would "facilitate" the democratic
process in that country.
At the same time, Lori Berenson has spent nearly five years in
jail for crimes she did not commit. Her sentence was nullified
by Peru's Supreme Military Council, yet the Clinton Administration
stands by while she faces a new "show trial" that has already
started to shred due process.
The SF Committee to Free Lori Berenson is organizing a call-in
to the White House every Friday until she is released.
Please call President Clinton at 202-456-1111. (You can also
email president@whitehouse.gov.) Urge him to take all necessary
action to secure Lori's immediate release. Her corrupt "show
trial" must end now.

Many thanks,
Lindasusan Ulrich
